General FAQs
MY FRIEND SENT ME THIS LINK. WHAT THE HELL IS YOCO LOCO?
YoCo LoCo is a vintage trolley that does York County, SC brewery tours and private events. There are 10 micro brews in York County with more on the way. We get LoCo in YoCo! Our trolley is a 1997 Chase that sits 24 people comfortably on padded wooden benches. We top out at about 50 mph, so we stay off I-77 and often take back roads as we maneuver YoCo in search of beer and good food.
SOUNDS LIKE THIS REQUIRES A PRO DRIVER. WHO EXACTLY IS DRIVING THIS TROLLEY?
Our drivers are CDL-licensed professionals, many who spend their days driving school busses. If you enjoy your experience, we encourage you to show your appreciation by tipping your driver. Meet our Drivers!
I LIKE TO DRINK. CAN I BRING ALCOHOL ON THE TROLLEY?
If you’d like to bring beer, wine or hard seltzer on the trolley, be our guest. Bring a small cooler or use ours. You can also buy “to-go” from the breweries. Remember, the rides are short and there is plenty of beer where you’re going. No hard alcohol, please.
DRINKING MAKES ME HUNGRY. IS THERE FOOD?
Almost all the breweries we visit have food via their own kitchen or food trucks. You will not starve. There are a ton of good eats on the York County Brew Trail. If you must bring pop tarts on the trolley, we will not kick you off.
MY KIDS PARTY. IS YOCO LOCO KID-FRIENDLY?
Sure. Kids 12 and under are free. Young adults 13-20 are half price for YoCo tours. The trolley does not have seat belts, the music is rocking and the adults around you are talking about adult things, so give that some thought before you declare it a family outing. We do plan on kid-centric events soon including around the holidays.
WE LIVE IN THE DIRTY SOUTH. DOES THE TROLLEY HAVE A/C?
Pretty much. The trolley is vintage and like an ‘80s concert t-shirt, the nostalgia sometimes exceeds the functionality. We do have air conditioning in the front and back of the trolley and the windows open throughout although the cabin is not open-air. We’ll figure out if the heat works this December.
THE MORE I DRINK, THE LOUDER I LIKE MY MUSIC.
DOES YOCO LOCO HAVE A STEREO THAT BUMPS?
DOES YOCO LOCO HAVE A STEREO THAT BUMPS?
Yes. The first thing we did was take it to Freeman’s Car Stereo. We have plenty of playlists to get the party started and also invite you to test your DJ skills by connecting via Bluetooth to impress your new friends with your knowledge of ‘90s hip-hop. Sprinkles!
I HATE COVID. DO YOU CLEAN THE TROLLEY?
Yes, we wipe down internal surfaces after each tour. Our unvaccinated guests are encouraged to wear a mask, but it’s not required. We will follow CDC and local guidelines and adjust as necessary.
MY COOLER IS A YETI. IS IT SAFE TO LEAVE STUFF ON THE TROLLEY?
Yes. After our driver drops you off, he pulls in to a nearby parking lot and stays with the trolley at all times. If he leaves to find a food truck quickly, he’ll lock up the trolley and start blasting Justin Bieber tunes to keep would-be thieves away. That said, we recommend you keep your jewels with you at all times.
I WANT TO REMEMBER THIS EVENT FOREVER. DO YOU SELL MERCH?
We have some amazing t-shirts for sale on board for $20 each. We hope to graduate to trucker hats at some point, but one step at a time.
IS YOCO LOCO WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?
No, unfortunately not. The original lift hasn’t worked since the introduction of the iPod.
MY LAWYER IS NO LONGER ON RETAINER. DO I HAVE TO SIGN A WAIVER?
Yes, we have a simple waiver requiring you to take responsibility for your actions while getting LoCo in YoCo. We scratched the part where you gifted your vinyl records to our owners. You can complete online or once you board the trolley. It’s painless.
YoCo Tours FAQs
I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT A YOCO TOUR IS. ENLIGHTEN ME, PLEASE.
YoCo Tours are pre-set brewery tours on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon and evening and Sunday afternoon. We visit 3 breweries in York County over 4 hours. There are 24 spots for YoCo tours so plan on making some new friends. The schedule is listed on the website and changes from time-to-time.
THIS IS OUR FIRST DATE. WILL WE HAVE THE TROLLEY TO OURSELVES?
Not unless you book a LoCo Tour, Romeo. Expect others on your YoCo Tour. If 24 hours prior to departure, there are not at least 8 people signed up for your tour, we reserve the right to cancel. If this happens, we’ll reach out to you and suggest you join another upcoming YoCo Tour. Otherwise, you can book right up until departure.
WE’RE ON OUR WAY AND HAVE NO IDEA WHERE TO MEET THE TROLLEY. WHERE DOES IT PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF?
We currently pick up YoCo Tours behind Lucky Duck in Baxter Village, Fort Mill, near the back of Miller Dance Academy. Look for a big red trolley. After your YoCo Tour, you’ll be dropped in front of Grapevine in Baxter. Keep the party going.
I USUALLY ARRIVE 5 MINUTES LATE TO THINGS. DO I NEED TO CHANGE MY WAYS?
Maybe. YoCo tours include multiple groups of people, so please be courteous. The trolley will arrive about 15 minutes before its scheduled departure and wait for up to 10 minutes past departure time for those “stuck in traffic.” Once you’re at the brewery, your driver will give you a departure time and will ring the trolley bell to remind you to get moving. We will be as flexible as possible, but if you’re late coming out, it’s possible you’ll have to live out your remaining days at a brewery.
I DON’T WEAR A WATCH AND LOST MY PHONE. HOW LONG AT EACH BREWERY?
With approximately 30 minute trips to and from Rock Hill, 3 breweries and 4 hours, we will spend about 1 hour at each brewery. This is subject to change based on traffic and brewery schedule. Please factor in an extra half hour on the back-end of your trip. It’s not easy pulling people out of that third brewery.
MY SPOUSE JUST TOLD ME TO SHOW UP. WHERE ARE WE GOING?
YoCo tours hit 3 breweries between Fort Mill and Rock Hill. We change them up regularly and keep a current schedule on our YoCo Tours page. All of the York County breweries are great, so sit back and relax.
I TYPICALLY DO VIP. DOES MY YOCO TOUR TIX GET ME BACKSTAGE ACCESS?
We are working hard to create partnerships with our YoCo breweries and hope to be able to offer you some special perks soon.
LoCo Tours FAQs
I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT A LOCO TOUR IS. ENLIGHTEN ME, PLEASE.
LoCo Tours are private rental events. We drive. You go LoCo. Invite up to 24 people and tell us where to pick you up and drop you off. But be smart about that. If we pick up 24 people separately, we’ll just have to turn around and start dropping them off.
I GET LOCO IN CRAZY PLACES. WHERE CAN WE GO?
As Shakespeare once wrote, York County is your oyster. You tell us and we’ll get you there safely and comfortably. Go to dinner and a brewery or Kate’s Skate or PuckerButt for some hot sauce. Get LoCo in YoCo!
IT’S MY SPOUSE’S 50TH. CAN I PUT “OVER THE HILL” BALLOONS IN THE TROLLEY?
Of course. If you want to decorate the trolley for a special occasion, just let us know and we’ll do our best to arrange early access.
4 HOURS IS NOT ENOUGH TIME TO PARTY. WHAT IF WE NEED MORE
You can book additional time at 50% of the standard hourly rate. Call for details. Keep in mind that breweries close down earlier than you do.
I JUST MOVED HERE FROM UPSTATE NEW YORK (GO BILLS!). WHAT IS THERE TO DO IN YOCO?
Welcome and thanks for bringing all your friends and family! There is plenty to do on a night out between Fort Mill and Rock Hill. We recommend checking out www.visityorkcounty.com for ideas. Click on “The York County Brew Trail” tab to explore all the options for local craft brews.
CHARLOTTE IS A COOL CITY. CAN WE GO THERE?
Dude, it’s called “YoCo LoCo”, not “Charlotte’s Got A Lot.” That would be a terrible name for a brewery trolley. We have to stay in York County. You can take the light rail up to the big city next weekend.
